My research work focuses on the following topic areas:
Decarbonization of the electricity, transportation, industry, and building sectors.
Hydrogen economies and opportunites for cross-sector hydrogen applications
Electric grid transformation including renewables integration, flexible demand resources, reliability, and long-term storage
Electrification, energy efficiency, and energy management in the building sector
I explore these research topics by developing a variety of custom or semi-custom modeling programs using the following tools and techniques:
Optimization, including optimal investment decisions, optimal equipment scheduling, and energy market modeling
Power sector modeling including power plant unit commitment and dispatch, transmission expansion, and power plant capacity expansion
Stochastic modeling and sensitivity analysis including monte carlo analysis
Network modeling
Data analysis including multiple regression, optimization, and visualization as well as database management
